Background
A permanent home for Ealing’s creative community has been secured at The Verdean in Ealing, a new housing development being delivered by a joint venture between London housing specialist Mount Anvil and housing association Peabody.
Creative Land Trust has been established to secure long-term, affordable workspace for artists and creatives, ensuring a vibrant and prosperous future for this critical industry, enriching communities and strengthening London.
It has signed a 999-year lease with Mount Anvil and Peabody that will preserve affordable workspace in perpetuity for Ealing, which has been included in an expansion of the Mayor of London’s Creative Enterprise Zones programme.
In total, Creative Land Trust will be taking up to 4,300 sq.ft of space on the ground and mezzanine levels at The Verdean. The space will provide for up to 30 individual occupants.
The studios will open their doors to artists in 2027, with residents first moving into their homes in 2024. A full tender process will be run to identify the most suitable studio operator for the space.
The site’s previous residents and new residents have begun moving into their new homes, and the creative workspace, once ready, will open its doors across the ground floor and mezzanine levels for up to 30 artists and creative occupants.
A full tender process will be run to identify the most suitable studio provider for the space.
