Wallis Road Studios

Wallis Road Studios is our first in a portfolio of properties, working to fulfil our mission to secure high quality, affordable, and sustainable studio spaces for artists and makers to support London’s creative industries. It is a new mixed-use residential building located in the heart of Hackney Wick; an area known for its creativity. We have acquired the 33,000sf ground and lower ground floor space to provide genuinely affordable studios for artists, ensuring that the creative community can continue to thrive in one of the capital’s cultural hotspots. The new workspace will include vibrant street facing studios, unlocking the benefits of existing creative communities, developing new economic opportunities for local residents, and bringing to life the area’s culture and heritage.

We work with expert studio providers to operate new workspace providing up to 180 studios for artists and other creative practitioners. Artists will enjoy long term security, while the London Borough of Hackney and the wider city of London will strengthen their reputations for culture led regeneration.

Wallis Road Studios is a part of Hackney Council’s Master Regeneration plan for the local area and is in a Creative Enterprise Zone. With wellbeing a core part of their vision we have worked with Telford Homes to complement the development, creating quality infrastructure delivering the places that London needs. In the last 15 years, Hackney Wick has experienced vast re-development, however this threatens the existing creative community. As many new businesses are attracted to the area, existing artists and creative businesses are displaced, a concern for both the community and the council. 

The development of Wallis Road Studios will engage with the existing community and become an integrated and fundamental part of the locality, and foster an overall sense of wellbeing and placemaking for the community.
